The Brooklyn Eagle became the first newspaper to deliver their product via air when they began the “Special Airplane Edition” just after World War I, on July 30, 1919. The newspapers were delivered in bundles of fifty in parachutes dropped over fields on Long Island. Local Boy Scouts would then pick them up and distribute them.
